Martin Espinoza-Grajeda
Biography
Born in 1968 at Lima, Peru.
He studies at the Cusco École des Beaux-Arts, at Peru.
He lives in France since 1995.
From 1998 to 2003, he creates "L’Atelier d’Art Espinoza" (litt. Espinoza’s Art Workshop) at Biarritz (64, Nouvelle-Aquitaine), proposing sculpture classes and internships.
From 2003 to 2008, he creates "L’Atelier d’Art Espinoza" at Pouillon (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), offering sculpture classes and internships.
From 2007 to 2008, he teaches sculpture at the Dax Cultural Center (Nouvelle-Aquitaine).
From 2005 to 2007, he makes miscellanous monuments for particulars. He works on various materials: bronze, marble, stone, wood, cast stone…
Tributes
To my grandfather Martin Espinoza Navarro, wood carver, who made among others things altarpieces (vertical constructions with carved decorations in the background of altars in churches) and altars in colonial or baroque style, in particular in the Cusco Cathedral, at Peru.
To my uncle Fausto Espinoza Farfán, a sculptor, painter, writer and a filmmaker. He made monumental works at Cusco, including a colossal Inca made of bronze, the "PACHAKUTEQ", measuring 11,5 meters high, placed on a pedestal 22,4 meters high, as well as a condor named “KUNTUR APUCHIN“ made of aluminium, 4,75 meters high, 15 meters length and 5 meters depth, placed on a pedestal 40 meters high, to the realization of which I had the honor to contribute. As a passionate about cinema, he made severals short films, and obtained the CINED Award during the 8th “Biarritz Festival Latin America“ and was invited in various festivals in Ecuador, Brazil, Hungary, Netherlands and Czechoslovakia.

From 1993 to 1994, he participates to the “KUNTUR APUCHIN’’ sculpture creation, made of aluminuim 4,75 meters high, 15 meters length and 5 meters depth placed on a pedestal 40 meters high, under the direction of the sculptor and filmmaker Fausto Espinoza, his uncle. Order from Cuzco town.
From 1985 to 1996, he organizes numerous exhibitions.

Sculpture introductory with Martin Espinoza

Martin Espinoza, skilled sculptor since twenty-five years, shaping his works by conveying feelings through body expressions. From « Mademoiselle Biarritz » to « Pèlerin » of Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, Martin Espinoza écoute l’histoire de ses sujets pour mieux les sublimer. For several years, he has been giving lessons in his workshop at Misson and working with his students on various materials such as stone, marble and wood.
This fall, within the scope of Itinéraire 2013, he suggests presenting a clay sculpture introductory workshop on Saturday October 12th, at the Pouillon cantonal library, situated on the Maison Du Temps Libre.
There are three sessions, from 10 am to noon for children. And the afternoon, there is sessions for teenagers and adults, from 2 pm to 4 pm then from 4 pm to 6 pm. The cantonal library will be able to receive a maximum of 12 participants per session.

The ten students from the workshop established at Misson are exhibiting their creations.
The private viewing of Espinoza’s students exhibition gathered a large audience on Tuesday evening at the Galerie d’art municipale, 5, rue du Palais. There was enough to swoon in admiration contemplating the 33 productions worked in weathered plaster, cast stone, marble or wood… During the private viewing, Martin Espinoza has talked at length about style and shape, highlighting the progress made by his students: Lison Brana, Gisèle Carrasquer, Michel Comin, Bernard Conchon, Maryse Delmas, Michel Dumesnel, Guy Foucat, Nathalie Labrousse, Jacqueline Pena and Volfgang Thiede.
Unique artworks.
Punctual to this second meeting, the master sculptor wanted to call his students together, in order to allow to art lovers to admire the unique artworks of the exhibitors until next Saturday, June 1st. In their turn, the students has warmly thanked Martin Espinoza and invited those presents to share a reception followed by a hearty buffet. Do not hesitate, a visit to this superb presentation on the theme of "inspiration" is essential.
